Helping Women Heal in El Salvador
Rebeca, from our Central America team, has started a group ministering to women and single mothers. She is seeing some amazing moments take place in their lives, and we wanted to share her story and a testimony of one of the ladies in her group:
It's now been a month and a half since I started this women's meeting, and it has truly been a blessing each week. Two weeks ago a young woman arrived, and at that moment God told me to speak about “how to overcome worry and anxiety.” While she listened to the lesson, I noticed she was crying. I closed by praying for each woman, and with this phrase the Lord gave me: "worry adds nothing to our lives, but trusting in God changes everything."
Afterwards, I gave everyone time to share what they had learned, and she said, “My real reason for coming was to make work connections, but before I came, I told myself that if I didn't get any clients, I was going to kill myself this afternoon." She wept as she said it.
“God is telling me He can take away my anxiety if I trust Him, and now, after the prayer, I feel so much peace—I don't want to die; I want Jesus to help me live.”

This month and a half with these women has been “slow” in my view, but what happened two weeks ago made all the slow steps worthwhile—it's like watering small, fragile plants every Thursday.
I'm planning a small retreat for about 20 women at a place on the volcano. Many of them are going through tremendous struggles, and most are single mothers. Please pray with me for provision, because creating something beautiful and special will be a bit costly.
Many are suffering in silence, and they come to me asking for prayer whenever I share. My heart is heavy because I wish I could do more to help, but I know part of this is learning to rest in the truth that God will care for them and their children.
Thank you,
