GoodTogether: Good News for Christmas

As the box stores have boldly announced since late October, "it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas." When Jesus began his public ministry he started off with these words, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor."

Since Christmas is the time we celebrate the arrival of Jesus, it is also a time we should celebrate the WHY of His arrival - to preach good news to the poor and to proclaim freedom from poverty and oppression.

What better way to celebrate than to give some GOOD NEWS to those who are poor?

As you do your Christmas shopping, would you add these opportunities to your list?

  1. Christmas meals and gifts for Children ($3 a piece). There is an immediate opportunity to bless 2,500 children in Malawi, 1,000 in Pakistan, and 900 in Nicaragua.

  2. School kits - $30/student. The first of the year is when the school year starts for many in the developing world. In places where the value of education is highly coveted, giving the gift of school registration and supplies invests in a life-changing opportunity for students all over the world. This is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

  3. Missionary Family Gifts. We have over 25 families who would be incredibly blessed by a gift of $100. International travel is very expensive right now in many places, and we would like to help lighten the load of families who are traveling. For those who are staying in the field, an extra gift of $100 reminds our workers how much they are valued.

Your generosity in these areas will be really GOOD NEWS to people who won't take it for granted just in time for Christmas!
